Drainage Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Drainage Civil Engineer to join their distributed team, offering a fully remote work experience. This role is dedicated to the design and implementation of effective water management and drainage solutions for a variety of civil engineering projects. You will be responsible for ensuring sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), flood risk management, and efficient water conveyance are integral to project success. This position is perfect for an engineer passionate about water-related infrastructure and seeking the flexibility of remote work.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop surface water and foul water drainage systems, including calculations and hydraulic modelling.
• Implement Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) strategies and designs.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports related to drainage infrastructure.
• Conduct Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and contribute to Water Management Plans.
• Liaise with statutory consultees, such as Lead Local Flood Authorities and the Environment Agency.
• Provide technical support and advice on drainage matters throughout project lifecycles.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a focus on hydrology or hydraulics.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in drainage design and water engineering.
• Proficiency in drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
• Strong understanding of UK drainage legislation, policy, and design standards.
• Excellent analytical and report writing skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and effectively within a remote team environment.
