Drainage Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Drainage Civil Engineer to join their growing team in Norwich, Norfolk . This role is integral to the design and implementation of effective surface water management and foul water drainage systems for a variety of development projects. You will be responsible for conducting site assessments, producing detailed designs, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and building standards. Working closely with project managers, architects, and contractors, you will contribute to sustainable and resilient infrastructure development in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design surface water drainage systems, including SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems), for residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
• Prepare hydraulic calculations and models for foul and surface water networks.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports using relevant software.
• Assess flood risk and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Ensure designs comply with current UK drainage legislation, Building Regulations Part H, and Sewers for Adoption.
• Liaise with statutory undertakers, local authorities, and environmental agencies.

Requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in drainage design, preferably within a consultancy environment.
• Proficiency with drainage design software such as MicroDrainage or similar hydraulic modelling tools.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and other relevant design software.
• Understanding of flood risk assessment and SuDS principles.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
