Drainage Engineer - Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialist Drainage Engineer with a focus on Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) to join their team in Bristol . This role is pivotal in designing environmentally conscious and effective drainage solutions for new developments and existing infrastructure, mitigating flood risk and improving water quality. You will collaborate with planners, architects, and environmental consultants to integrate SuDS principles seamlessly into project designs. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS), including swales, permeable paving, and detention basins.
• Prepare hydraulic calculations and drainage design reports in accordance with relevant guidelines.
• Assess site topography and hydrological data to inform drainage strategies.
• Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies to obtain approvals for drainage designs.
• Work with other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions for development projects.
• Stay abreast of advancements and best practices in SuDS and flood risk management.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in drainage design, with specific knowledge and application of SuDS principles.
• Proficiency in drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
• Understanding of flood risk assessment and water quality management.
• Familiarity with relevant UK planning policies and design standards for SuDS.
• Good communication and collaboration skills for interdisciplinary work.
