Drainage Engineer - Urban Development

About the Role

Our client requires a skilled Drainage Engineer to support their growing portfolio of urban development projects in Edinburgh . This role involves the detailed design of surface water and foul water drainage systems for new housing, commercial, and mixed-use developments. You will ensure designs meet regulatory requirements, promote sustainable drainage solutions, and integrate effectively with the overall project design. This position offers the chance to work on challenging and visible projects within the vibrant Scottish capital.

Key Responsibilities

• Design surface water and foul water drainage systems for new developments using industry-standard software.
• Prepare drainage strategy reports, calculations, and detailed drawings for planning and construction.
• Liaise with Local Authorities, statutory undertakers, and internal teams to obtain approvals.
• Incorporate Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) principles into designs where appropriate.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing drainage conditions and supervise construction as required.
• Ensure designs comply with Sewers for Scotland guidelines and relevant regulations.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in drainage design, preferably within a consultancy environment.
• Proficiency in drainage design software such as MicroDrainage (WinDSAP, Source Control) and AutoCAD.
• Good knowledge of 'Sewers for Scotland' and other relevant design standards.
• Experience in flood risk assessment is advantageous.
• Strong communication and client liaison skills.
