About the Role
Our client, a well-established civil engineering consultancy based in Plymouth , is seeking an experienced Drainage Engineer to join their growing team. This role will focus on the design and implementation of effective surface water and foul water drainage systems for a variety of development projects across Devon . You will be responsible for ensuring that drainage designs meet regulatory requirements and environmental standards, contributing to sustainable water management solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to specialise in a critical area of civil engineering within a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design surface water management systems, including SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems).
- Prepare detailed designs for foul water drainage networks and connections.
- Undertake hydraulic calculations and modelling for drainage systems using specialist software.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications for drainage elements.
- Liaise with local authorities, water companies, and environmental agencies regarding drainage approvals.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase of projects.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related environmental discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in drainage design.
- Proficiency in drainage design software such as MicroDrainage or SWMM.
- Good understanding of UK drainage legislation, policies, and standards.
- Experience with flood risk assessments and hydraulic modelling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
