About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Drainage Engineer to join their team in Derby . This role is crucial for the design and implementation of effective drainage solutions for a variety of civil engineering and development projects. You will be responsible for assessing surface water and foul water drainage needs, designing sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects and contribute to resilient water management in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Design sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and traditional drainage networks for new developments and existing infrastructure.
- Perform hydrological and hydraulic calculations for surface water runoff and wastewater systems.
- Prepare drainage design drawings, reports, and specifications for planning applications and construction.
- Liaise with local authorities, water companies, and statutory undertakers to obtain necessary approvals.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing drainage conditions and supervise the installation of new systems.
- Contribute to flood risk assessments and mitigation strategies as part of wider civil engineering projects.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience in drainage design, preferably within a consultancy environment.
- Proficiency in drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
- Good understanding of relevant UK design standards, building regulations, and environmental legislation.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise technical reports and drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
