Draughtsman

Overview Recruitment Solutions are pleased to be partnering with our Client to appoint an experienced Draughtsman / Design Engineer to join their established manufacturing operation. Your role will involve producing detailed engineering drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks, supporting the design and development of a range of sheet-metal products and components. Working closely with customers, fabrication and production teams, you will help take designs from initial requirements through to manufacture, ensuring they are practical, accurate and suitable for production. Day to day functions of the Draughtsman / Design Engineer role will include: * Producing detailed 2D engineering drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks. * Creating manufacturing, folding and assembly drawings for sheet-metal products and components. * Developing new designs and modifying existing products to meet customer requirements. * Interpreting customer drawings, specifications and technical information. * Preparing flat patterns, bills of materials (BOMs) and relevant manufacturing documentation. * Working closely with fabrication and production teams to ensure designs are suitable and efficient to manufacture. * Supporting manufacturing processes including laser cutting, folding, forming and fabrication. * Reviewing and updating existing drawings to improve accuracy, consistency and quality. * Making design amendments to improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency and ease of production. * Liaising with customers and internal departments to understand design requirements and resolve technical queries. * Supporting the development of new products and bespoke components. * Ad hoc duties as required. £30,000 - £40,000 (Doe)

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in a Draughtsman, Design Engineer, CAD Technician or Mechanical Design role within an engineering or manufacturing environment. You should be confident using SolidWorks, with experience producing 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D models. A good understanding of engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, materials and manufacturing requirements is essential. Experience within sheet-metal fabrication, precision engineering or general manufacturing would be highly advantageous, particularly with exposure to processes such as laser cutting, folding, forming and welding. We are looking for someone with good attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with colleagues across design, engineering and production.
