Drilling Fluids Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their operations team based in Bradford . This essential role involves managing and optimizing drilling fluid systems to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations. You will work closely with drilling crews both on-site and remotely, providing critical technical support and fluid analysis. While the base of operations is in Bradford , this role requires frequent travel to drilling sites, making it a non-remote position focused on hands-on field support.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well conditions and objectives.
• Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of drilling fluid properties to ensure optimal performance.
• Monitor fluid performance on-site, troubleshoot issues, and recommend adjustments to maintain drilling efficiency and wellbore stability.
• Manage inventory and logistics of drilling fluid chemicals and equipment.
• Prepare detailed reports on fluid performance, costs, and recommendations for future operations.
• Collaborate with drilling engineers and rig personnel to achieve drilling objectives safely and efficiently.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in drilling fluids engineering, preferably with exposure to offshore or unconventional wells.
• Solid understanding of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, and properties.
• Proficiency in laboratory testing procedures and data analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in demanding field environments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with rig teams.
