Drilling Fluids Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks a proactive and technically adept Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their operations based in Newcastle upon Tyne . You will be responsible for the design, management, and optimization of drilling fluid systems to ensure efficient and safe drilling operations. This role requires hands-on expertise and close coordination with drilling crews to monitor fluid properties and performance, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards at the well site.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well conditions and geological formations.
• Supervise the mixing, testing, and handling of drilling fluids on location.
• Monitor fluid properties (density, viscosity, rheology, filtration) and make necessary adjustments.
• Troubleshoot drilling fluid-related problems such as lost circulation, stuck pipe, and formation damage.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to drilling fluids.
• Prepare daily reports on drilling fluid performance and inventory management.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or similar role in the oil and gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, properties, and testing procedures.
• Familiarity with solids control equipment and techniques.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a remote and challenging environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related scientific field.
