About the Role
Our client is looking for a specialized Drilling Fluids Specialist to join their operational team in Edinburgh . In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the design, management, and optimization of drilling fluid systems to ensure efficient and safe drilling operations. You will monitor fluid properties, troubleshoot issues, and provide expert recommendations to drilling crews and management. This position offers a direct impact on drilling performance and operational success within the dynamic Oil & Gas industry .
Key Responsibilities
- Design drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well conditions and geological challenges.
- Supervise and manage the mixing and maintenance of drilling fluids on location.
- Monitor fluid properties (density, viscosity, rheology, filtration, etc.) and perform necessary adjustments.
- Troubleshoot drilling fluid related problems, such as lost circulation, stuck pipe, and formation damage.
- Conduct regular fluid testing and reporting, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
- Provide technical support and training to rig personnel on drilling fluid best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Chemical) or a related science field.
- 5+ years of experience as a drilling fluids engineer or specialist.
- In-depth knowledge of various drilling fluid systems (water-based, oil-based, synthetic-based).
- Understanding of formation properties, wellbore stability, and their impact on fluid selection.
- Experience with drilling fluid testing equipment and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure on-site in Edinburgh .
