About the Role

Our client seeks a seasoned Drilling Operations Manager to oversee and optimize all drilling activities in the Newcastle upon Tyne region and surrounding areas. This pivotal role involves ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations, managing a team of drilling engineers and supervisors, and liaising with contractors and regulatory bodies. You will play a key part in strategic planning, risk management, and the implementation of best practices in drilling technology to achieve operational targets. This hybrid role offers a blend of on-site supervision and remote strategic management, ensuring robust oversight of our client's significant upstream operations in the North East.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive drilling plans, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Manage and mentor drilling engineering and supervisory staff, fostering a culture of safety and performance excellence.
• Oversee the selection, contracting, and performance management of drilling service providers and equipment vendors.
• Monitor drilling operations, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure well integrity and operational efficiency.
• Control drilling budgets, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and ensure all permits and compliance requirements are met for drilling activities.

Requirements

• Extensive experience (10+ years) in drilling operations management within the Oil & Gas sector .
• Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage diverse teams and complex projects.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling equipment, techniques, HSE regulations, and well control principles.
• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience in managing operational budgets and negotiating with service providers.
