Drug Safety Physician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Drug Safety Physician to provide medical expertise and leadership within their pharmacovigilance department in Oxford . This senior role is responsible for the medical assessment of adverse event data, contributing to safety signal detection and risk management strategies for the company's pharmaceutical portfolio. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safe use of medicines and upholding the highest standards of patient safety and regulatory compliance in the dynamic field of pharmaceutical development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide medical oversight and expertise for the assessment of adverse event reports and drug safety data.
• Lead the medical review of safety signals, performing benefit-risk assessments.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of robust risk management plans (RMPs).
• Review and provide medical input into aggregate safety reports (e.g., DSURs, PSURs).
• Collaborate with regulatory affairs, clinical development, and medical affairs teams on safety-related issues.
• Serve as a medical expert for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (M.D. or equivalent) with board certification or significant experience in a relevant specialty.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in pharmacovigilance and drug safety within the pharmaceutical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of global regulatory requirements and guidelines for drug safety and pharmacovigilance.
• Proven experience in medical assessment of adverse events and signal detection.
• Excellent medical judgment, strong analytical skills, and outstanding communication abilities.
