Drug Safety Physician

About the Role

Our client, a leading global pharmaceutical company , is seeking a qualified and experienced Drug Safety Physician to join their UK-based medical affairs team in Reading . This critical role involves overseeing the pharmacovigilance activities, ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicinal products throughout their lifecycle. You will provide expert medical assessment of adverse event data, contribute to regulatory reporting, and support risk management strategies. This position offers a significant opportunity for a physician with a passion for patient safety to play a lead role in pharmacovigilance operations within a dynamic pharmaceutical environment in the Thames Valley region .

Key Responsibilities

• Provide medical assessment and interpretation of adverse event data reported for company products.
• Contribute to the preparation and review of safety-related regulatory documents, including Periodic Safety Update Reports (PSURs) .
• Participate in the development and implementation of risk management plans (RMPs).
• Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g., Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs) and external regulatory authorities on safety matters.
• Ensure compliance with global pharmacovigilance regulations and company policies.
• Respond to medical inquiries regarding product safety and efficacy.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or equivalent medical degree with full medical license to practice.
• Significant experience in pharmacovigilance and drug safety assessment, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
• In-depth understanding of global pharmacovigilance regulations , guidelines, and reporting requirements.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to critically evaluate medical literature and safety data.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in Reading and contribute to strategic decision-making.
