Drug Safety Physician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Drug Safety Physician to join their global pharmacovigilance team, supporting operations based in Derby . This senior medical role is responsible for the medical assessment of adverse event data, signal detection, risk management planning, and contributing medical expertise to regulatory submissions and safety communications. You will play a critical role in ensuring the ongoing safety profile of the company's marketed products and those in development. This is a challenging and rewarding position for a physician with a strong background in drug safety and a commitment to patient protection.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide medical assessment and interpretation of adverse event reports and safety data.
• Lead signal detection activities, identifying potential safety issues and recommending further investigation.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of risk management plans (RMPs) and risk assessment strategies.
• Review and approve safety-related regulatory documents, including periodic safety update reports (PSURs/PBRERs) and DSURs.
• Act as the medical lead for safety-related inquiries from regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with clinical development, regulatory affairs, and other departments on safety matters.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or equivalent medical degree.
• Completion of residency training; board certification in a relevant specialty is preferred.
• Significant experience (5+ years) in pharmacovigilance or drug safety within the pharmaceutical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of global pharmacovigilance regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
• Strong medical judgment, analytical skills, and ability to interpret complex clinical data.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
