EAL Tutor
Help Learners Build Confidence Through Language
We're looking for an EAL Tutor to support children and young people across Hampshire who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL).
Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll provide tailored 1:1 support to learners who require help developing their English language skills, improving communication, and accessing education more confidently. Students may be at varying stages of language acquisition and will benefit from a patient, personalised approach that promotes both academic and personal development.
This is an excellent opportunity for educators who enjoy working with diverse learners and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
Location: Hampshire
Specialism: EAL (English as an Additional Language)
Start Date: September
Hours: Flexible
Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour
Type: 1:1 Tuition
Requirements
Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, mentoring, learning support, or similar roles
Experience supporting EAL learners is desirable
Strong English language and communication skills
Ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised sessions
Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is advantageous
Patient, culturally aware, and adaptable approach
Excellent relationship-building skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally across Hampshire

Have SEND or EHCPs
Experience anxiety or barriers to education
