About the Role
Our client is seeking a compassionate and skilled Early Years Practitioner with a specialism in Special Educational Needs (SEN) support to join their inclusive nursery in Brighton . You will work closely with children who have diverse learning needs, providing tailored support to help them thrive and reach their full potential. This role involves collaborating with parents, external agencies, and the nursery team to implement effective support strategies and foster an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported. It's a rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized support to children with SEN, implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
- Work collaboratively with the SEN coordinator and external specialists to ensure best practice.
- Adapt activities and environments to meet the specific needs of children with learning disabilities.
- Observe, document, and track the progress of children with SEN, communicating effectively with parents and colleagues.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all children.
- Support the overall daily running of the nursery, assisting with general care duties as required.
Requirements
- A recognised Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare or a related field.
- Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs in an early years setting.
- A strong understanding of the EYFS framework and SEN provision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support children with additional needs.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
