Electrical Design Engineer - Marine

About the Role

Our client is recruiting for an innovative Electrical Design Engineer with a specialization in Marine applications to join their thriving team in Southampton . This role is crucial for designing and implementing electrical systems for a range of marine vessels and offshore structures. You will work on challenging projects that require a deep understanding of naval electrical engineering principles and stringent maritime regulations. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical distribution systems, control systems, and instrumentation for marine vessels.
• Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications according to naval standards.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant maritime regulations (e.g., DNV, Lloyds Register).
• Collaborate with naval architects, project managers, and fabrication teams to integrate electrical systems effectively.
• Conduct site surveys and provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases.
• Perform calculations for load analysis, short circuit, and cable sizing.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical design, preferably within the marine or offshore industry.
• Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems , power generation, and distribution.
• Familiarity with relevant maritime classification society rules and standards.
• Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for project coordination.
