Electrical Design Engineer - Power Distribution

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer with expertise in power distribution networks to join their established engineering team in Liverpool . You will be responsible for designing, specifying, and overseeing the implementation of electrical distribution systems for various projects, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical principles, distribution equipment, and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in delivering robust and efficient power solutions for critical infrastructure and commercial developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical distribution systems, including substations, switchgear, cabling, and protection schemes, for a variety of projects.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, calculations, schematics, and technical specifications using CAD and other relevant software.
• Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for new electrical installations and upgrades.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical design, with a focus on power distribution systems .
• Proficiency in using electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, or similar.
• Knowledge of low, medium, and high voltage equipment, protection relays, and earthing systems.
• Strong understanding of relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., BS 7671, ENA standards).
