About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to join their established team based in Birmingham . This role focuses on the creation and refinement of electrical schematics and control systems for industrial machinery and automation projects. You will be instrumental in translating client requirements into functional and efficient electrical designs, working closely with manufacturing and commissioning teams to ensure successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical control panels, schematics, and wiring diagrams using industry-standard software.
- Specify electrical components, including motors, drives, sensors, and PLCs, ensuring compatibility and reliability.
- Create bills of materials (BOMs) and support procurement processes for electrical parts.
- Conduct design reviews and implement feedback to optimize electrical system performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide technical support during the manufacturing, assembly, and testing phases of projects.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant UK and international electrical safety standards and regulations.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, preferably within an industrial automation or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software for electrical schematics (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical).
- Knowledge of PLC programming principles and common industrial communication protocols.
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards such as BS 7671.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple design tasks concurrently.
