Electrical Engineer - Power Systems

About the Role

Our client, a leading consultancy in the Milton Keynes area, is looking for a talented Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems to join their expanding team. This role is focused on the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical power infrastructure for a variety of clients, including utilities, industrial facilities, and renewable energy developers. You will play a vital part in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of power networks, contributing to critical infrastructure projects across the UK. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical power systems, including substations, distribution networks, and protection schemes.
• Perform power flow, short-circuit, and stability analysis using specialized software tools.
• Specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, cables, and generators.
• Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for new electrical installations and upgrades.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing power systems.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international standards and regulations.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical power systems engineering.
• Proficiency with power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, DigSilent PowerFactory).
• Knowledge of grid codes , protection relays, and earthing systems.
• Experience with renewable energy integration is highly desirable.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills, comfortable working remotely.
