Electrical Maintenance Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of their facilities in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK . You will be responsible for the proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment across the site. This role is crucial for minimising downtime and ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on electrical equipment, including motors, generators, switchgear, and control systems.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults and malfunctions efficiently to restore systems to operational status.
• Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide maintenance and repair activities.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance performed, including parts used and time taken.
• Participate in the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment as required.

Requirements

• Qualified Electrician with relevant certifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent).
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of AC/DC circuits, motor controls, and PLC systems.
• Ability to read and understand complex electrical drawings and diagrams.
• Familiarity with health and safety legislation pertaining to electrical work.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
