About the Role
Our client is looking for a diligent and skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their operational team in Portsmouth . This essential role focuses on ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all electrical systems and equipment within their facilities. You will be responsible for proactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and rapid repair of electrical infrastructure, playing a vital part in maintaining seamless operations. This is a hands-on position that requires a strong understanding of electrical principles and practical application, working directly within the Portsmouth site to support critical functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on a wide range of electrical equipment and systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair solutions promptly.
- Install, commission, and maintain electrical control systems, power distribution units, and machinery.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies regarding electrical work.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide on-call support as required to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs using the CMMS system .
Requirements
- Qualified Electrician with relevant certification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND) or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, control panels, and fault-finding techniques.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations related to electrical work, such as BS 7671 .
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
