About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their dedicated facility operations team in Portsmouth . This role is essential for ensuring the continuous and safe operation of all electrical systems and equipment within the plant. You will be responsible for proactive maintenance, rapid troubleshooting, and the implementation of improvements to minimise downtime and enhance operational efficiency. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to maintaining a safe and productive working environment, possessing a strong hands-on approach and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on a wide range of electrical equipment, including motors, drives, control panels, and power distribution systems.
- Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out effective repairs to restore equipment functionality.
- Interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and manuals to accurately identify and resolve issues.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment status using CMMS software.
- Ensure all work is carried out in strict accordance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in electrical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including three-phase power, motor controls, and PLCs.
- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout procedures and general site safety protocols.
- Good diagnostic skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving in Portsmouth .
