Job Description
Electrical Maintenance Supervisor Location: Rugby Salary: £50,000 – £54,000 per annum Contract Rate: £350 – £400 per day (Outside IR35 / CIS) Employment Type: Permanent or Temporary/Contract TCS Contracts are recruiting on behalf of a well-established client for experienced Electrical Maintenance Supervisors to join a professional maintenance and engineering team based in Rugby. With both permanent and temporary/contract opportunities available, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Supervisor with a strong background in planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and site-based electrical engineering.
The Role
As an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating electrical maintenance activities across the site, ensuring planned and reactive works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will play a key role in maintaining reliable site operations, managing PPM schedules, coordinating breakdown response and supporting a team of engineers and contractors. The successful candidate will have strong HV experience up to 11kV, including experience with HV motors and switchgear, as well as practical knowledge of VSD/VFD systems. Experience within a cement or clinker manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous, particularly experience involving a pre-calciner kiln. Candidates from related heavy industrial environments, including mining, power generation, oil & gas or waste-to-energy, will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate electrical maintenance activities across the site. Manage and oversee Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules, ensuring works are completed safely and on time. Coordinate and respond to reactive maintenance, breakdowns and fault-finding requirements. Lead, support and coordinate maintenance engineers and contractors. Carry out electrical inspections, fault finding and maintenance activities where required. Ensure electrical systems, equipment and installations are maintained to the required standards. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant health & safety, electrical and site regulations. Monitor maintenance performance and ensure accurate maintenance records are maintained. Support continuous improvement and preventative maintenance initiatives. Liaise effectively with internal teams, contractors and other site stakeholders. Support the wider engineering team in maintaining safe, reliable and efficient site operations. Participate in the site's 1-in-7 on-call rota. Essential Technical Experience & Qualifications The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience as an Electrical Supervisor, Electrical Maintenance Supervisor or similar.
- A recognised electrical engineering qualification, apprenticeship, NVQ, National Certificate or Diploma.
- Strong experience in both PPM and reactive maintenance.
- Proven HV experience up to 11kV.
- Experience working with HV motors and switchgear.
- Experience with VSD/VFD systems.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance experience.
- Experience supervising engineers, contractors or maintenance teams.
- A strong understanding of electrical health & safety and compliance requirements.
- The ability to effectively prioritise planned and reactive maintenance activities. Desirable Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Instrumentation experience.
- Experience within cement or clinker manufacturing.
- Experience working with pre-calciner kilns.
- Experience within other heavy industrial environments, such as: Mining, Power generation, Oil & gas, Food and Waste-to-energy
About You
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Electrical Maintenance Supervisor who can confidently lead maintenance activities within a demanding site-based engineering environment. You will be organised, safety-focused and capable of managing competing priorities across both planned and reactive maintenance requirements. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with engineers, contractors, internal teams and other stakeholders. You must also be comfortable participating in a 1-in-7 on-call rota. Working Hours Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm On-call: 1 in 7 weeks, from Friday afternoon through to Monday morning. Permanent Package £50,000 – £54,000 per annum
