We are currently recruiting for a Critical Shift Engineer - Electrical Bias to join a well-established and highly reputable Facilities Management provider, working on a prestigious data centre in Hayes, West London. This is an excellent opportunity for a Level 3 qualified Electrical Engineer looking for long-term stability, strong earning potential and career progression within a company that actively promotes from within. Working as part of a dedicated engineering team, you will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of critical electrical and building services systems, ensuring the site remains safe, compliant and operational 24/7.
Key Responsibilities
Working as part of a dedicated on-site critical engineering team Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance Maintaining and fault-finding on electrical systems and critical infrastructure Carrying out regular inspections of electrical plant and equipment Managing PPM schedules, logbooks and statutory compliance documentation Responding to electrical breakdowns and faults in a timely and professional manner Ensuring all critical systems are maintained to a high standard within the data centre environment Supporting the wider M&E team with associated building services PPM tasks to include, but not be limited to: Emergency lighting General lighting Fire alarm systems Electrical distribution systems LV switchgear and distribution boards UPS systems Generators and associated equipment Plant room inspections AHUs & FCUs Associated building services equipment Requirements
Electrical qualification - Level 3 essential:
NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent 18th Edition Wiring Regulations - essential 2391 Testing & Inspection - desirable Previous experience within a commercial, critical or data centre environment is highly advantageous Ideal Candidate
Strong Electrical Bias with a solid building services background Experienced in PPM, reactive maintenance and electrical fault-finding Comfortable working within a critical environment, ideally a data centre Strong understanding of electrical safety and compliance Professional and client-facing approach Well-organised with strong attention to detail and compliance Able to work effectively as part of a multi-skilled engineering team Experience working on data centres, healthcare or other critical-site contracts is beneficial but not essential
