About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Energy Storage Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Belfast . This role focuses on the design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for various applications, including grid-scale and distributed energy resources. You will play a critical part in developing solutions that enhance grid stability, integrate renewables, and improve energy efficiency. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of power systems, battery technologies, and control strategies, and will contribute to projects that are vital for a sustainable energy future.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer battery energy storage systems (BESS), including component selection and system architecture.
• Develop and implement control algorithms and software for BESS operation and optimization.
• Conduct system performance analysis, simulations, and testing of energy storage solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and project managers.
• Ensure BESS designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and grid codes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to BESS performance and integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a focus on power systems or energy storage.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and application of energy storage systems or power electronics.
• Proficiency with simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD) and battery management systems (BMS).
• Strong understanding of battery chemistries, grid integration principles, and power system dynamics.
• Experience with control systems design and implementation for renewable energy or storage applications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
