About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Energy Storage Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Belfast, Northern Ireland . This role is crucial for developing and integrating advanced energy storage solutions that enhance grid stability and support the widespread adoption of renewable energy sources. You will be involved in the entire project lifecycle, from conceptual design and component selection to system testing and performance monitoring. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering with specialized knowledge of battery technologies and power systems, contributing to the evolution of the energy infrastructure and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer scalable energy storage systems (ESS) for various applications, including grid-scale, commercial, and industrial.
- Select appropriate battery technologies, power conversion systems, and control hardware.
- Develop control strategies and software algorithms for optimal ESS performance, including charge/discharge management and grid interaction.
- Conduct system integration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of ESS installations.
- Perform energy analysis, performance modeling, and financial feasibility studies for ESS projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, software developers, and field technicians, to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, development, and integration of energy storage systems .
- Strong understanding of battery chemistries, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and power electronics.
- Proficiency with simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) and experience with control system design.
- Knowledge of grid codes, standards, and interconnection requirements for ESS.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
