About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly analytical Energy Systems Modeller to join their innovative team in Oxford . This role involves developing and utilising complex models to analyse energy systems, evaluate decarbonisation pathways, and support strategic planning for the energy transition. You will work with diverse datasets to simulate future energy scenarios, assess the impact of new technologies, and provide quantitative insights to guide investment and policy decisions. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mathematical modelling, energy systems, and programming. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to shaping sustainable energy futures.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, calibrate, and maintain energy system models (e.g., capacity expansion, dispatch, network models).
- Analyse and interpret model outputs to provide clear insights into energy system behaviour and potential future scenarios.
- Support scenario analysis for different policy drivers, technological advancements, and market conditions.
- Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and policy experts to define model scope and requirements.
- Present complex modelling results to technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Proven experience (4+ years) in energy systems modelling or a related field.
- Proficiency in modelling software and programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, or GAMS.
- Strong understanding of energy sector technologies, markets, and policy frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
