About the Role
Our client is seeking a sharp and analytical Energy Trading Analyst to join their trading operations team, working entirely remotely from Leeds . This role is critical in supporting the company's trading strategies by providing in-depth market analysis, risk assessment, and performance monitoring for energy commodities. You will play a key part in optimizing trading decisions, identifying market opportunities, and managing financial risks associated with energy price fluctuations. The ideal candidate is highly data-driven, possesses strong quantitative skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, independent working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze energy markets (electricity, gas, renewables) to identify trading opportunities and risks.
- Develop and maintain market models to forecast price movements and supply/demand dynamics.
- Monitor the performance of the trading portfolio and provide regular reports on P&L, risk exposure, and key metrics.
- Support the trading desk with real-time market data, analysis, and decision-making tools.
- Conduct post-trade analysis to evaluate trade effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with risk management and compliance teams to ensure adherence to trading policies and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a trading analyst, market analyst, or similar role in the energy sector.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in data analysis and statistical modeling.
- Experience with energy market data platforms (e.g., Refinitiv, Bloomberg) and trading systems.
- Excellent understanding of financial markets, risk management principles, and energy trading concepts.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks effectively in a remote setting.
