About the Role
Our client, a dynamic energy trading firm, is seeking a sharp and analytical Energy Trading Analyst to join their remote-first trading operations team based out of Leeds . You will be responsible for monitoring energy markets, developing trading strategies, and providing critical insights to support trading decisions. This fully remote position allows you to leverage your analytical skills and market knowledge to contribute directly to the firm's profitability. You will work with complex data sets, sophisticated trading platforms, and collaborate closely with senior traders and risk managers in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment focused on optimizing energy portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse real-time energy market data, including supply, demand, generation, and weather forecasts, to identify trading opportunities.
- Develop and back-test quantitative trading strategies for various energy commodities (e.g., power, gas, carbon).
- Monitor portfolio positions and market exposures, providing timely updates and risk assessments to the trading desk.
- Prepare detailed market reports and commentary on key drivers and trends affecting energy prices.
- Collaborate with data scientists and IT teams to enhance trading tools and analytical capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant trading regulations and internal policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in energy trading, market analysis, or a similar analytical role within the energy sector.
- Strong understanding of energy markets, trading instruments, and risk management principles.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical modeling; experience with Python, R, or SQL is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive under pressure in a remote setting.
