Job Description
An Engineering Manager is required in Greater London to lead day-to-day engineering operations across a critical environment, managing shift teams and maintaining the reliability of complex power and cooling infrastructure.
The role combines technical leadership with people and vendor management, covering power distribution, UPS systems, chilled water systems, planned maintenance, fault-finding and critical shutdowns.
The Role
As the Engineering Manager, you'll:
Lead day-to-day engineering operations and manage a team of direct reports. Provide technical guidance to shift engineers and act as an escalation point. Manage switching schedules, shutdowns and other critical engineering activities. Oversee vendors and follow up technical works to ensure issues are resolved. Support PPM, reactive maintenance and complex fault-finding across critical systems. Review works across power distribution, UPS and chilled water systems. Communicate effectively with the client and engineering teams during daily meetings. About You
To be successful as the Engineering Manager, you'll have:
A strong technical engineering background within a critical or similarly complex environment. Electrical expertise, or a mechanical background with strong electrical understanding. Experience with power distribution, UPS systems and critical cooling infrastructure. Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to assess technical problems and solutions. Experience managing engineering teams, contractors and specialist vendors. HNC or relevant technical qualifications, with a degree desirable. 18th Edition qualification or relevant electrical knowledge would be advantageous. Authorised Person experience is desirable, with training available where required. What's in it for You? £70,000–£80,000 annual salary. Permanent position based in Greater London. Monday-to-Friday working pattern, 8am–5pm. Technical training, including progression towards Authorised Person responsibilities. Senior responsibility across a large engineering team and critical infrastructure. The Engineering Manager will also act as an escalation point for occasional out-of-hours requirements, including shutdowns and reactive situations.
