Location: Stoke-on-Trent Responsible to: Centre Manager Salary: £33,000-£40,000 (dependent on experience) Contract: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: September 2026

Could You Write the Next Chapter of Our SEMH Provision?

At our SEMH Provision, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to find their voice, discover their strengths and write a different future.

We are a small, ambitious and inclusive educational provision supporting KS3 and KS4 students from diverse and sometimes challenging backgrounds - many of whom have found mainstream education challenging.

We're looking for an exceptional Curriculum Manager & Teacher of English to join our team.

This isn't simply a role for someone who can teach the curriculum. We're looking for someone who can shape it, strengthen it and bring it to life.

You'll combine strategic curriculum leadership with a hands-on teaching role, inspiring students in English while supporting colleagues to deliver a high-quality, engaging and meaningful curriculum across the provision.

If you're passionate about education, naturally organised, confident in leading others and believe that a well-placed comma - or a well-placed intervention - can make all the difference, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role: More Than Just a Job Description

As our Curriculum Manager & Teacher of English, you'll be at the heart of our educational offer.

You'll lead the development, delivery and evaluation of our curriculum while teaching English across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE and Functional Skills pathways.

One moment you might be inspiring a student to find their voice through English; the next, you'll be working with colleagues to improve curriculum planning, analysing progress data or ensuring our curriculum meets the highest standards.

In short, you'll help make sure every part of the curriculum tells the right story.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

Teaching engaging and purposeful English lessons across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE and Functional Skills.

Leading the development and continuous improvement of a high-quality curriculum across all subjects.

Supporting and mentoring teaching staff with planning, assessment and effective classroom delivery.

Monitoring student progress and achievement, analysing data and implementing appropriate interventions.

Supporting high standards of behaviour and helping colleagues create positive, purposeful learning environments.

Ensuring the curriculum meets statutory requirements and relevant inspection and quality standards.

Leading or contributing to Enrichment and Personal Development programmes.

Supporting staff training and continuing professional development.

Ensuring safeguarding, wellbeing and pastoral care are meaningfully embedded throughout the curriculum.

Helping our students build the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for their next chapter.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can see the bigger picture without losing sight of the individual student.

You might already be a Curriculum Leader, Subject Lead or experienced English teacher ready to take the next step. Most importantly, you'll be someone who is adaptable, resilient and genuinely passionate about making education work for young people who may not have thrived in traditional settings.

Ideally, You'll Have Experience In:

Curriculum leadership, curriculum development or subject coordination.

Teaching English at KS3 and KS4.

Preparing students for GCSE and/or Functional Skills qualifications.

Supporting students with SEMH and/or SEN needs.

Working within an alternative provision, specialist setting or independent school environment.

Understanding curriculum requirements, quality assurance and educational standards.

The Qualities That Matter

We're looking for someone who is:

A natural leader - able to inspire, support and bring colleagues together.

Passionate about English - with a genuine belief in the power of literacy, language and communication.

Strategic and analytical - comfortable using data to identify what is working and where students need additional support.

Highly organised - able to manage multiple priorities without losing the plot.

An excellent communicator - because great leadership starts with great conversations.

Adaptable and resilient - able to respond positively when the day doesn't quite follow the lesson plan.

Supportive and collaborative - committed to helping both students and colleagues succeed.

Confident in behaviour management - with the ability to create and support calm, positive and purposeful learning environments.

You'll also be comfortable using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, alongside school data and management systems.

Why Join Our SEMH Provision?

Because we know that great education isn't about fitting every student into the same sentence.

Our provision is built around the belief that students should be known as individuals, supported to overcome barriers and given every opportunity to move forward. We're creating a purposeful environment where staff can make a genuine difference and young people can begin to see new possibilities for themselves.

What We Offer

Opportunities for professional development and career growth.

A commitment to a healthy work-life balance.

Company pension scheme.

Lunch provided daily.

On-site parking.

The opportunity to work with a committed team that believes in fresh starts and positive futures.
