About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Compliance Officer to ensure adherence to environmental regulations across their operations, in a fully remote capacity. This position is crucial for maintaining sustainability standards and minimizing environmental impact. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental policies and procedures, conducting audits, and liaising with regulatory bodies. This role is ideal for a proactive professional passionate about environmental stewardship and capable of managing compliance initiatives from a remote workspace, contributing to a responsible and sustainable mining future.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement environmental management systems and policies.
- Monitor compliance with local, national, and international environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular environmental audits and site assessments (remote data review).
- Prepare and submit environmental impact assessments and permit applications.
- Investigate and report on environmental incidents, recommending corrective actions.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on environmental best practices and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably within the mining or industrial sector.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and permitting processes.
- Experience with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills for remote collaboration.
- Ability to interpret complex environmental data and regulations effectively.
