About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Officer to join their mining operations based in Belfast . This role is vital for ensuring that all mining activities comply with the strictest health, safety, and environmental standards. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring EHS policies and procedures, conducting site inspections, and providing training to staff. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of EHS legislation within the mining sector and a passion for creating a safe and sustainable working environment. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the responsible operation of our client's facilities in Northern Ireland .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS management systems.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Organize and deliver EHS training programs for all levels of staff.
- Advise management on EHS legislation, best practices, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Monitor environmental impact and ensure compliance with permits and regulations.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field (e.g., NEBOSH).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- In-depth knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and management techniques.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across different departments.
