Environmental Manager - Mining Compliance

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and knowledgeable Environmental Manager to ensure regulatory compliance and promote sustainable practices within their mining operations near Bristol . This role is vital for managing the environmental impact of extraction activities, from exploration through to closure. You will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental management plans, conducting impact assessments, and ensuring adherence to all national and local environmental legislation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of environmental science, regulatory frameworks, and stakeholder engagement, contributing to responsible resource development.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Environmental Management Systems (EMS) for mining operations.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for new projects and expansions.
• Monitor environmental performance, including air quality, water quality, noise, and waste management.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental permits, licenses, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and deliver environmental training programs to site personnel.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders on environmental matters.
• Oversee site remediation and closure planning activities.

Requirements

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management , preferably within the mining industry .
• In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation and permitting processes.
• Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
• Strong understanding of biodiversity, waste management, and rehabilitation principles.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
