About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to oversee environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for their operations near Glasgow . This vital role ensures adherence to all relevant environmental regulations, develops strategies for minimizing ecological impact, and promotes best practices in environmental stewardship across the mining sites. You will work closely with site managers, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders to maintain a strong environmental performance record. This is an important opportunity to contribute to responsible mining practices and ensure the long-term sustainability of the company's operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the company's Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Ensure compliance with all national and local environmental laws, regulations, and permit requirements.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies for new projects.
- Oversee monitoring programs for air quality, water discharge, waste management, and biodiversity.
- Develop and deliver environmental training programs for employees and contractors.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders on environmental matters.
Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector .
- In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and permitting processes in the UK .
- Experience in developing and implementing environmental impact assessments and management plans.
- Strong understanding of environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
