Environmental Manager - Mining Operations

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified Environmental Manager to lead environmental stewardship for their operations near Belfast , Northern Ireland . This critical role ensures compliance with all environmental regulations, promotes sustainable practices, and manages the environmental impact of mining activities. You will develop and implement environmental policies, conduct audits, and engage with regulatory bodies and local communities. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in environmental science, regulatory affairs, and a passion for minimizing ecological footprints in the mining sector .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee environmental management systems and strategies for mining operations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant local, national, and international environmental legislation and permits.
• Conduct regular environmental impact assessments, risk analyses, and site audits.
• Manage environmental monitoring programs, including air quality, water quality, and waste management.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and local communities on environmental matters.
• Develop and deliver environmental training programs for site personnel to foster a culture of environmental responsibility.

Requirements

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
• In-depth knowledge of UK and EU environmental legislation relevant to mining and land remediation.
• Proven experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP).
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., IEMA) are a plus.
