Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Manager to oversee environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for their mining operations near Belfast . You will lead the development and implementation of environmental strategies, manage permitting processes, and engage with regulatory bodies and local communities. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the company's environmental management system (EMS).
- Ensure compliance with all relevant national and local environmental legislation and permitting requirements.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies for mining projects.
- Oversee waste management, water management, air quality monitoring, and biodiversity protection programs.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, local authorities, and community stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Train site personnel on environmental policies and procedures, fostering a strong environmental stewardship culture.
Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- In-depth knowledge of UK and Northern Ireland environmental legislation and permitting processes.
- Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and reporting.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Ability to conduct site inspections and audits effectively.
