About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Environmental Manager to oversee environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for their mining operations, based in Cambridge , with a hybrid working arrangement. This critical role involves ensuring that all mining activities adhere to stringent environmental regulations, developing strategies for minimizing ecological impact, and promoting best practices in environmental stewardship. You will lead the environmental team, liaise with regulatory bodies, and work collaboratively across departments to integrate environmental considerations into all aspects of the business. This position is key to maintaining our client's commitment to responsible mining.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the company's environmental management system.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, permits, and regulations.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies for mining projects.
- Oversee water management, waste disposal, rehabilitation, and biodiversity conservation efforts.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, local communities, and stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Develop and deliver environmental awareness training programs for employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental management, with significant experience in the mining sector .
- In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and permitting processes in the UK.
- Experience with environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and rehabilitation planning.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
