About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Environmental Services Operative to join their facilities management team in Portsmouth . This role is fundamental in ensuring that our client's premises are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and tidiness. You will be responsible for a variety of cleaning duties, utilizing appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions to create a safe and pleasant environment for staff and visitors. A strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail are essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning duties across various areas, including offices, restrooms, common areas, and production facilities.
• Sanitize surfaces, floors, and equipment using approved cleaning chemicals and methods.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and pressure washers.
• Empty waste bins and ensure proper disposal of rubbish according to site guidelines.
• Respond promptly to cleaning emergencies or spillages, ensuring minimal disruption.
• Report any maintenance issues or health and safety concerns to the supervisor.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a cleaning or janitorial role is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment, and their safe usage.
• Understanding of basic health and safety principles in the workplace.
• Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
• Physical fitness to perform cleaning tasks, including standing, walking, and lifting.
