About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Technician to join their facilities team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This crucial role ensures that all areas of the facility are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, contributing directly to the well-being of patients, staff, and visitors. You will perform a wide range of cleaning and disinfection duties, utilizing specialized equipment and approved chemicals. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, physically capable of performing demanding tasks, and committed to upholding rigorous hygiene protocols. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized cleaning tasks in patient rooms, common areas, offices, and restrooms.
- Operate and maintain various cleaning equipment, including buffers, vacuums, and floor scrubbers.
- Properly store, mix, and use cleaning chemicals according to safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
- Dispose of waste and hazardous materials in accordance with established procedures.
- Respond to emergency cleaning needs, such as spills or biohazard incidents, promptly and effectively.
- Sanitize and restock supplies in restrooms and other designated areas.
Requirements
- Previous experience in commercial cleaning or environmental services, preferably in a healthcare or similar high-traffic setting.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and their safe handling.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Understanding of infection control principles and safety procedures .
