Estate Groundsman

About the Role

Our client seeks a skilled and dedicated Estate Groundsman to maintain the extensive grounds and gardens of their prestigious property near Cambridge . This role requires a comprehensive understanding of horticultural practices, grounds maintenance, and machinery operation. You will be responsible for ensuring the aesthetic appeal and functional integrity of the estate's outdoor spaces, working both independently and as part of a small team. Key Responsibilities

• Perform regular grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, strimming, hedge cutting, and border care.
• Plant, cultivate, and maintain flower beds, shrubberies, and trees according to seasonal plans.
• Operate and maintain a range of horticultural machinery, such as ride-on mowers, leaf blowers, and strimmers.
• Ensure the tidiness and safety of pathways, drives, and other estate surfaces.
• Assist with minor estate repairs and upkeep of outbuildings.
• Implement pest and disease control measures in gardens and landscaped areas.

Requirements

• Proven experience in groundskeeping, horticulture, or landscape maintenance.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining horticultural power tools and machinery.
• A good knowledge of plant care, seasonal planting, and pruning techniques.
• Ability to work unsupervised and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices in outdoor environments.
• A driving license is required for accessing various parts of the estate.
