Estimator / Surveyor

Based in a commercial office and reporting directly to the Business Manager you will be required to perform a variety of surveying functions within a small team.

The Role & Responsibilities:Duties:

• Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to determine the scope of work and materials required for brickwork projects.
• Collaborate with main contractors to gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for projects, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyse project specifications and requirements to identify potential risks and opportunities.
• Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather additional information for accurate cost estimation.
• Coordinate with client and other team members to ensure accurate and timely completion of cost estimates.
• Maintain a database of historical cost data to support future estimating efforts.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, construction methods, and material costs to ensure accurate cost estimation.

Skills

• Strong analytical and mathematical skills to accurately calculate costs and quantities.
• Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cost estimation.
• Proficient in using estimating software and tools.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members, clients and subcontractors.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and drawings.
• Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a quantity surveyor/estimator.

• Knowledge of brickwork and blockwork is essential.
