EV Charging Field Service Engineer

Job Title: EV Charger Field Service Engineer

Salary: 38k - 45k, plus van & bonus

Location: Belfast

You know how to find a fault that nobody else can. What if the kit you fixed powered the UK’s switch to electric?

If you work in field service today, in renewables, power electronics or wider electrical, you already have most of what this job needs. This is your chance to bring those skills into EV charging, one of the fastest-growing corners of the industry. You become the person the network relies on.

Why this role

A fast-growing UK EV charging business is looking for an Electrical Field Service Engineer. You will commission, maintain and repair chargers at sites across the country, and you will own the uptime of the network you look after.

When a charger goes down, drivers are stranded and customers are watching. You are the one who gets it back up. The work is SLA-driven, so pace and clear communication matter.

What you’ll do

You will work hands-on with the full range, from AC chargers through to Rapid DC, Ultra and High-Power Charging (HPC). That mix is rare, and the experience will stay with you for your whole career.

Each day is different. You will diagnose electrical, mechanical and software faults, run diagnostic tests, apply firmware updates and calibrate equipment. You will replace faulty components, and occasionally whole AC chargers, following manufacturer guidelines.

You will also carry out routine and preventive maintenance, commission and configure new chargers, and train clients on how to use them. You will log every job in the service management system. You will work with the Service Coordination and Operations teams so the data is right and reports are followed up quickly.

You will work mostly on your own, on outdoor sites and sometimes in confined spaces. You are trusted to solve problems without anyone looking over your shoulder.

About you

You hold an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical and have at least two years in a field-based engineering role, commissioning, maintaining or repairing electrical equipment. You are confident with a multimeter and voltage tester. You communicate well with customers and manage your time well between sites. You have a valid UK driving licence with 6 penalty points or fewer.

It helps if you have:

*

18th Edition (BS7671:2018)

*

C&G 2391/2394 Inspection and Testing

*

EV charger manufacturer training

*

experience with Rapid DC, Ultra or HPC chargers

*

*

a feel for analogue and digital electronics

There is a discretionary company performance bonus and a salary sacrifice pension with an 8% total contribution. Bupa private healthcare starts after six months. You also get an EV car salary sacrifice scheme, a benefits and discounts platform, enhanced family-friendly policies and long service awards
