Ex-Teachers Needed! Trainee Education Recruitment Consultant

Trainee Education Recruitment Consultant - London

£32,000 Basic Salary + Uncapped Commission | Realistic First-Year OTE £35,000-£42,000

Ready for a new challenge outside the classroom? Turn your teaching experience into a rewarding career in sales and recruitment!

Are you a teacher considering a career change for now or January 2027? Do you enjoy working with people, building relationships and achieving results? Perhaps you're looking for a role where your communication, organisation and resilience can be rewarded financially?

At Tradewind Recruitment, we're looking for ambitious and motivated individuals to join our London team as Trainee Education Recruitment Consultants.

We have a fantastic track record of welcoming ex-teachers into our business, with many successfully transitioning from the classroom into recruitment and progressing their careers with us.

Why consider a move into recruitment?

Your teaching experience gives you a fantastic foundation for recruitment. You understand the education sector, know what makes a great teacher and appreciate the challenges schools face when recruiting staff.

However, this isn't a teaching or education support role. It is a fast-paced, target-driven sales position where you'll develop your own client relationships, win new business and build a successful recruitment desk.

What will your day-to-day involve?

As a Trainee Education Recruitment Consultant, you'll receive comprehensive training and support to develop your recruitment and sales skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

Business development: Proactively contacting schools, identifying new opportunities and winning new business.

Client relationship management: Building strong relationships with schools, understanding their staffing requirements and becoming a trusted recruitment partner.

Candidate attraction: Advertising vacancies, sourcing candidates, networking and building a strong pool of education professionals.

Interviewing and registration: Screening and interviewing teachers and support staff to assess their suitability for roles.

Sales and negotiation: Negotiating pay rates and placement fees, agreeing terms and maximising opportunities to generate revenue.

Matching and placing candidates: Successfully matching teachers and education professionals with suitable school vacancies.

Account management: Maintaining relationships with existing schools and developing repeat business.

Achieving targets: Managing your own desk, working towards sales KPIs and revenue targets, and taking ownership of your performance.

You'll need to enjoy picking up the phone, developing new relationships, handling objections and working in an environment where your results matter.

What's in it for you?

We believe in rewarding hard work and investing in our people. Our package includes:

£32,000 basic salary.

Uncapped commission from day one.

Realistic first-year OTE of £35,000-£42,000.

35 days annual leave.

Reduced working hours during school holidays.

Award-winning training through our IMPACT Academy.

Clear career progression opportunities.

All-expenses-paid international trips for top performers.

A supportive, sociable and ambitious team environment.

Regular incentives, team events and opportunities to celebrate success.

What are we looking for?

We're interested in people who are ambitious, driven and ready to build a career in a commercial environment.

You could be:

A qualified teacher looking to move away from the classroom.

An education professional looking for a new career direction.

A graduate or sales professional looking to develop a career in recruitment.

You'll ideally have:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Confidence speaking to new people and building relationships.

Resilience and the ability to handle rejection.

A competitive nature and motivation to achieve targets.

Strong organisation and time-management skills.

A proactive approach and the confidence to pick up the phone.

A genuine interest in sales, business development and recruitment.

Previous recruitment experience isn't essential. We provide comprehensive training, so we're more interested in your attitude, ambition and potential.
