Exploration Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Exploration Manager to lead their exploration initiatives from Nottingham . This hybrid role provides the opportunity to shape the future of the company's upstream portfolio through a combination of remote strategic planning and essential office-based collaboration. You will be responsible for defining exploration strategies, identifying new venture opportunities, and managing exploration teams to deliver successful exploration campaigns. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of subsurface evaluation, and a proven track record in discovering and developing hydrocarbon resources. This is a senior leadership position with significant impact on the company's growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company's global exploration strategy and business plan.
• Identify, evaluate, and secure new exploration acreage and opportunities.
• Manage and mentor a team of geoscientists and geophysicists, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Oversee the technical evaluation of prospects, including geological, geophysical, and economic assessments.
• Manage exploration budgets and ensure efficient resource allocation.
• Present exploration strategies and results to senior management and the board of directors.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in oil and gas exploration , with significant leadership experience.
• Proven track record of successful exploration discoveries and commercial resource development.
• Expertise in basin analysis, play fairway mapping, and risk assessment.
• Strong understanding of petroleum systems, seismic interpretation, and economic evaluation.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills, suitable for a hybrid leadership role.
