Facilities Manager - Sports Complex

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the operations of a large-scale sports complex in Belfast . This senior role is responsible for ensuring all facilities, grounds, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe and welcoming environment for athletes, staff, and visitors. You will manage a team of maintenance and operational staff, control budgets, and implement best practices in facilities management, health and safety, and sustainability. The successful candidate will play a key role in the strategic planning and execution of maintenance programs, ensuring the complex remains a premier destination for sporting events and community activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance and repair schedules for all buildings, pitches, and specialized sports facilities.
• Manage a team of maintenance engineers, cleaners, and groundskeepers, overseeing their performance and professional development.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting regular risk assessments.
• Control departmental budgets, including expenditure on utilities, consumables, equipment, and contracted services.
• Oversee the procurement and management of external contractors for specialized maintenance and repairs.
• Implement energy efficiency initiatives and sustainable practices throughout the complex.

Requirements

• Proven experience in Facilities Management , ideally within a large sports venue or complex.
• Strong understanding of building maintenance, M&E systems, and groundskeeping operations.
• Demonstrable experience in budget management, contract negotiation, and staff supervision.
• Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., BIFM Level 4/5, NEBOSH).
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
• Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for facility upkeep and improvement.
