Facilities Manager - Sports Complex

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly organized and proactive Facilities Manager to oversee their state-of-the-art sports complex in Portsmouth . This crucial role involves ensuring that all facilities, including sports pitches, indoor arenas, and associated buildings, are maintained to the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for managing maintenance schedules, overseeing contractors, implementing health and safety protocols, and ensuring a seamless experience for all users, from professional athletes to community groups. This position demands a practical approach with strong technical knowledge and excellent management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans for all sports facilities and infrastructure.
• Manage the budget for facilities operations, including procurement of supplies and services, and control expenditure.
• Oversee the work of cleaning, security, and maintenance staff, as well as external contractors.
• Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations , conducting regular risk assessments.
• Coordinate the scheduling and setup of facilities for various sporting events and activities.
• Manage utility services, waste management, and groundskeeping operations to ensure optimal performance and sustainability.

Requirements

• Proven experience in facilities management, preferably within a sports or large venue setting.
• Strong understanding of building maintenance, M&E systems, and health and safety legislation .
• Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience in budget management and contract negotiation.
• Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., BIFM, NEBOSH) are desirable.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
