Job Description
Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Family Support Worker to work with our client on a temporary basis in Salford. This is a full-time role working 36 hours per week, supporting children, young people and families who may be experiencing challenging circumstances.
Overview:
The role of the Family Support Worker is to provide practical and emotional support to children, young people and their families, helping them overcome challenges, build resilience and achieve positive outcomes. You will work alongside families to identify their needs, develop appropriate support plans and access relevant services, promoting the safety and wellbeing of children and supporting families to make positive, lasting changes.
Main Duties

Providing practical and emotional support to children, young people and their families
*
Building positive relationships with parents, carers and young people to encourage engagement and promote positive outcomes
*
Identifying family needs, strengths and areas where additional support may be required
*
Supporting families to develop parenting skills, improve family relationships and build confidence
*
Working with families to develop and review support plans
*
Supporting families to access relevant services, community resources and early help interventions
*
Working collaboratively with social workers and other professionals to ensure families receive appropriate support
*
Promoting the safety and welfare of children and young people, following safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns appropriately
*
Maintaining accurate records of interventions, progress and outcomes
*
Encouraging families to develop practical skills and greater independence
Essential Criteria:
*
Previous experience in a family support, early help, children’s services or similar role
*
Previous experience in working with children, young people and families experiencing challenging circumstances
*
An understanding of safeguarding procedures and the importance of promoting the welfare of children
*
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with families
*
Ability to work collaboratively with professionals and partner agencies
*
Good organisational skills, including the ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities
*
A compassionate, patient and professional approach, with a commitment to improving outcomes for children and families
