Job Description
The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Farm Manager to take full day-to-day responsibility for a modern laying farm in North Yorkshire. This is a hands-on, farm-based position for someone with strong livestock experience who is passionate about animal welfare, husbandry and farm management. You will take responsibility for the site's livestock, production standards, biosecurity, health and safety, cost management and day-to-day operations, while supervising staff and third-party contractors. The role is hygiene-focused and may involve working in a potentially noisy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Take full day-to-day responsibility for the farm and livestock operation. Maintain optimal environmental conditions and ensure strict biosecurity standards. Oversee egg production and grading, ensuring consistently high standards are maintained. Supervise farm employees and third parties working on site. Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety requirements. Maintain compliance with legislative requirements and relevant assurance schemes. Maintain accurate and up-to-date farm records, including: Medication Alarm records Production Deliveries Other relevant operational information Manage site costs effectively and support operational efficiency. Maintain consistently high standards of animal welfare and husbandry. Support other farming sites when required. Ensure farm standards are maintained throughout all areas of the operation.
What We'Re Looking For
The successful candidate will ideally have: Previous livestock farming experience. Poultry experience is preferred, although strong stockmanship will be considered. A genuine commitment to animal welfare and high standards of husbandry. An NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Poultry Production or a similar agricultural qualification is preferred. Full training will be provided where required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently and take responsibility for the running of the site. A self-motivated, practical and reliable approach. Good basic IT skills. Own transport is essential, as travel to other sites may be required.
Working Pattern
The role operates on a 48-hour working week, over 6 days out of 7. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the farm and livestock operation.
